We are thrilled to share an inspiring update on Curtis, a former EMA student who has continued to do so well since graduating.
Curtis has now been working at the Shire Hall Museum in Dorchester for over 18 months, where he’s a valued team member. Working two days a week, Curtis has continued to build on his personal confidence and skills, taking much of what he learnt during his time at college and effectively applying himself in employment. Whether he’s making drinks, taking orders to customers, using the till, or helping with washing up, his hard work and positive attitude mean these tasks have become easier for him and he is completing them quickly and confidently.
Curtis expressed that he misses the staff and his friends from college, but he was happy to have some of them pay him a visit recently and it was great catching up! He enjoys working with his colleagues in the cafe and interacting with customers. He and his parents are also exploring supported living opportunities so that he can be even more independent in the future, so it’s all looking positive moving forward.
Amazingly, Curtis also volunteers weekly at his village coffee morning, a brilliant way of giving back to the community.
A big shoutout also goes to Curtis’s boss, Kirsty, who shared that Curtis is a true asset to their team and a joy to work with.
Please join us in celebrating Curtis’s achievements. We couldn’t be prouder of his journey!
